Sunbringer is the S-Rank Fire Armorer coming to Zenless Zone Zero in Version 3.4, and she is three characters in one: Eldreda, Lindverne and Dracaene share a single agent, deal Sharp DMG that scales on DEF, and play best with Norma and Robin rather than with Claret. Everything here comes from the 3.4 beta, so names and numbers can still change before December.

Razor_ct published this breakdown on 24 October 2026, two days after HoYoverse’s Agent Record reveal. He reads the kit off the beta text, plays it, and talks to players who have tested her. His headline is in the title: she is very strong, she wants Robin, and the agent most players expected to pair with her, Claret, works against her. This page follows his order and flags the two places where his voice-over and his own slides disagree.

When Is Sunbringer Coming to ZZZ?

In Version 3.4. HoYoverse published her Agent Record on 22 October 2026, presenting the three Sunbringers of Roscaelifer on one card, and our banner page lists her as announced for 3.4. 3.3’s second phase, Severian and the Norma rerun, runs until 1 December 2026, so 3.4 opens in early December. Which phase she lands on, and on what date, was not published as of 30 October 2026.

She will compete for Polychrome with the Honkai: Star Rail collab, Robin and Kafka, announced at the 3.3 special programme. The link between them is the point of this page: Sunbringer’s best squads in the beta all run Robin.

Sunbringer Is Three Agents in One

You pull once and get all three. The beta splits the work between them, and Razor_ct’s slide sums it up. Lindverne is the fast setup: quick 4-hit combos, phase dodges, and the first Ultimate, which turns Flag Order into a Wish Core. Dracaene parries: she handles the Defensive and Counter Assists, parries a boss’s control skills to apply Gash, and buffs the follow-ups. Eldreda is the heavy finisher: she enters through Converging Edge, hits with banner and spear, and casts the second Ultimate that detonates Ember Scar.

Razor_ct is blunt about Dracaene: in practice she is a “party bot” with no on-field time of her own, unlike Lindverne and Eldreda. That matters for your hands more than your build. Sunbringer is one slot in the squad, so the other two slots are free for a Stunner and a support.

Sunbringer’s Armorer Stats and Buffs

Sunbringer follows the same rules as Claret, the first Armorer, which our 3.2 recap explains in full. The beta lists her attribute as Genesis Flare, a Fire variant, where Claret is Electric.

Sunbringer ZZZ Armorer stats and self-buffs in the 3.4 beta
RuleWhat it meansBeta number
DEF scalingIgnores ATK; deals Sharp DMG and uses Sharpness instead of Energy100% DEF
Laceration critsCrits deal Laceration DMG instead of CRIT DMGFixed rate, as on Claret
Overcrit conversionInitial CRIT DMG becomes CRIT Rate; over 100% CRIT Rate can double-crit1% CRIT DMG = 0.35% CRIT Rate
Midnight SunSelf-buff from entering combat, EX Specials or Converging Edge+40% CRIT Rate, 20% DEF ignore, 15s
Team passiveWith an Armorer, Stun or Defense teammate+25% Laceration DMG, 45s

The 0.35% conversion is the same ratio our Claret build uses, which is a useful check that the beta text reads the way the shipped Armorer kit does. The team passive explains her partners: Robin is a Defense agent and Norma a Stunner, so both switch on the 25%.

How Sunbringer’s Damage Works

Four resources, in order. Gash is the mark: Basic combos and Dracaene’s parries stack it up to three times on an enemy. Maim pops it: finishers, meaning the 4th Basic hit, the EX Special and Chain Attacks, consume Gash for area Sharp DMG and give 40 Willpower per stack, up to 160. Willpower is the gate: at 120, hold Basic Attack, or take the Quick Assist when an ally triggers Maim, to slam in with Eldreda through Converging Edge. That move grants two buffs, Chain Teeth and Flag Order.

Chain Teeth is spent by Lindverne’s enhanced EX Special, End of the Long Dark, which skips straight into her 4th Basic hit. Flag Order is spent either by Eldreda’s enhanced EX Special, Torch of Eternal Day, or saved and turned into a Wish Core during Lindverne’s Ultimate. Razor_ct explains the choice: when Decibels are not full, spend Flag Order on the EX Special; when they are, keep it for the Wish Core and a second Ultimate.

Ember Scar is the payoff. Her EX Specials, Converging Edge and Ultimates record 75% of the damage they deal on the enemy, and Eldreda’s Ultimate deletes that recorded amount straight from its HP bar. It is an execution that grows with everything she has already done.

Sunbringer Rotation in Five Steps

  1. Stack and detonate Gash. Build Gash with Lindverne’s or Dracaene’s Basic combos and parries, then land a 4th Basic hit or an EX Special to trigger Maim and reach 120 Willpower or more.
  2. Enter with Converging Edge. Hold Basic Attack, or tap the Quick Assist when an ally triggers Maim, to bring Eldreda in. This primes both Chain Teeth and Flag Order.
  3. Spend Chain Teeth. Press Special for Lindverne’s enhanced EX Special, End of the Long Dark, then tap Basic straight away for her 4th hit finisher.
  4. Cast Ultimate 1. At max Decibels, Lindverne’s Ultimate consumes Flag Order and forges a Wish Core.
  5. Cast Ultimate 2. Eldreda’s Ultimate spends the Wish Core to detonate every recorded Ember Scar, taking that amount straight off the enemy’s HP.

Razor_ct calls it “quite straightforward, very simple to play”. The one judgement call is step 4 against the EX Special in the damage section: hold Flag Order only when the Ultimate is ready.

Best Sunbringer Teams

The beta’s own test squads give the first answer: Norma and Robin appear in most of them, and Razor_ct calls the pair best in slot for 3.4. His teammate ranking, shown below, puts Robin and Norma on “Yes”, Ju Fufu and Roxy on “possibly good”, Koleda and Rina as alternatives, and Dialyn and Claret as “cope”.

The numbers come from his Robin video a day later, on the zzz.analytics.moe beta leaderboard with M0 agents and R1 W-Engines. They are the same squads, so they belong here too.

SquadDPS (beta)Razor_ct’s note
Sunbringer, Roxy, Robin693,795Best on the board; Roxy wants Robin for Daze

Claret, Sunbringer, Robin504,575Two Armorers: the weakest of the set

Roxy tops the board but comes with a caveat from players he spoke to: her Daze is low, so she needs Robin in the squad or Sunbringer does not stun fast enough. Rina still works but buffs less DEF than Robin, who reaches 1,000. Dialyn is the last resort because she has no Additional Ability to trigger.

Why Claret Does Not Work With Sunbringer

A September advertisement hinted that Claret and Sunbringer would pair well. In the beta they do not, and Razor_ct’s explanation is mechanical. When an Armorer triggers Maim, only the Maim multiplier of the agent who triggered it applies, not the Maim of every Armorer in the squad. Claret wants to be that agent, because her Maim multiplier is very high and Sunbringer’s is not.

The problem is that Sunbringer triggers Maim on her own, through her 4th Basic hit, her EX Special and her Chain Attacks. Keeping Maim for Claret means swapping out before Sunbringer finishes a combo, which he calls high-APM “copium”. In practice Claret ends up as a 25% Laceration buff and little else, and the leaderboard agrees: Claret, Sunbringer and Robin sits at 504,575, under every squad that pairs Sunbringer with a Stunner. If you own Claret, run her in her own squad; her current teams are on her teams page.

Should You Pull Norma for Sunbringer?

Norma’s rerun is live on 3.3 Phase 2 from 11 November 2026, which makes this a real question. Razor_ct’s answer is a warning drawn from ten years of gacha games: developers often rerun the best partner for a new agent just before releasing a better one a version or two later. So there is a good chance Norma is not Sunbringer’s best partner for long.

He still rates her: second or third best is enough to clear content, and only score chasers will feel the gap. He also points to an elemental angle. He describes Norma as Fire like Sunbringer, which helps against a boss with Wind resistance where Roxy is weaker; the leaderboard also lists her as Fire, while our own agent data has Norma as an Ether Stunner, a disagreement we have flagged for checking. Either way, if you cannot wait, Norma is a safe pull; if you can, waiting costs little.

Sunbringer’s Signature W-Engine

The beta card has no name yet, only the ID 14160. It is an Armorer W-Engine with Base DEF 30 to 446 and a DEF% advanced stat of 19.2% to 48%. It gives CRIT Rate +20%, and an EX Special Attack grants Enhance for 25 seconds, also granted on entering combat. While Enhance is active, her Fire DMG rises by 22% and her Fire Sharp DMG by 10%.

Razor_ct tells viewers not to anchor on these numbers, which are “highly subject to change”, but expects the finished W-Engine to be a 20 to 30% DPS upgrade, in line with other top-tier signature weapons. He also expects a rerun three to five versions after her first banner, so missing it now is not final.

Sunbringer’s Mindscapes

The beta added two Mindscapes while Razor_ct was recording. Mindscape 1, The Reclusive Void Hunter: on entering the battlefield she gains 120 Willpower at once, once every 180 seconds in Investigation Zone mode, so her first Converging Edge is ready immediately. The first use of Converging Edge raises the Ember Scar the enemy accumulates to 150% of the original amount, and her skills ignore 15% of Fire RES.

Mindscape 2, The Heir’s Banner of Rebellion: any of her other damaging skills also adds Ember Scar, equal to 12% of the damage dealt, and her Sharp DMG ignores 12% of the enemy’s DEF. The voice-over at 9:36 to 10:34 gives different figures (“12%” for the M1 increase, 50% Fire RES, 20% of the damage); this page follows the text on screen, which is what the beta prints.

For the rest of 3.4, the support half of the story is on our Robin guide, the agents that already work are on the tier list, and the squads players run today are on best teams.

Sunbringer in ZZZ · FAQ

6 questions

When is Sunbringer coming to ZZZ?

In Version 3.4, which follows 3.3’s second banner ending on 1 December 2026. HoYoverse revealed her Agent Record on 22 October 2026; the exact banner phase and date were not published as of 30 October 2026.

What element and specialty is Sunbringer?

An S-Rank Armorer. The 3.4 beta lists her attribute as Genesis Flare, a Fire variant, and HoYoverse’s Agent Record calls her a Fire Armorer. Like Claret, she deals Sharp DMG that scales on DEF.

Is Sunbringer three characters?

One agent made of three: Eldreda, Lindverne and Dracaene. You pull once. In the beta, Lindverne does fast combos and the first Ultimate, Dracaene parries and handles assists, and Eldreda is the heavy finisher with the second Ultimate.

What is the best team for Sunbringer?

Norma and Robin, according to Razor_ct on 24 October 2026. On the beta leaderboard he shows in his Robin video, Sunbringer, Roxy and Robin reached 693,795 DPS and Sunbringer, Norma and Robin 647,830.

Does Claret work with Sunbringer?

Poorly. Only the agent who triggers Maim gets her own Maim multiplier, and Sunbringer triggers Maim herself through her normal combos, so Claret rarely gets to. Razor_ct ranks Claret as a “cope” option in the 3.4 beta.

Should I pull Norma for Sunbringer?

Only if you cannot wait. Norma is one of her two best partners in the beta, but Razor_ct warns that a better Stunner often arrives one or two versions after a big agent. Norma stays viable even then, as of 24 October 2026.
